President Donald Trump has declared that he hopes his proposed triumphal arch will be the largest in the world.
The president’s proposed arch, which critics have dubbed the “Arc De Trump,” is expected to cost at least $100 million.
Trump told reporters on Air Force One that he is thinking of building “an arc that’s like the Arc de Triomphe in Paris.”
“We’re setting up a committee, and the committee is going to be going over it, but it’ll be substantial,” the president then said to the reporters.
“I’d like it to be the biggest one of all,” he declared. “We’re the biggest, most powerful nation.”
Trump pointed out to the reporters that “there are 57 cities throughout the world that have arches.
“We’re the only major city, Washington D.C., that doesn’t,” he stated. “So we have an unbelievable arc that I think will be the most beautiful in the world being built there. It’s going to be built there.”
In October 2025, it was revealed that Trump planned to build a new historic monument resembling Paris’ famous Arc de Triomphe in Washington, D.C., which was soon nicknamed by critics the “Arc de Trump.”
The plan reveals the arch in a traffic circle next to the Arlington Cemetery, across the Potomac River from the Lincoln Memorial and towering over that particular monument.
Last month, Trump told Politico that construction on the “Arc de Trump” might begin within weeks.
He also said the project is nearing the construction phase.
“It hasn’t started yet,” the president said. “It starts sometime in the next two months. It’ll be great. Everyone loves it.”
